(Helen Bond) In place of the usual Biblical Studies Research Seminar this Friday (5th October), we’ll be linking up live to a conference on “Authenticity Criteria in Historical Jesus Study”, organised by Prof Chris Keith and Dr Anthony LeDonne, hosted by the United Theological Seminary and brought to you by the Centre for the Study of Christian Origins here at New College. Speakers include Loren Stuckenbruck, Mark Goodacre, Dale Allison, Jens Schroeter and Tom Thatcher. We’ll start at 11.15-12.45; 1.15pm-4.45pm; and 5.45pm-7.45pm (in the Martin Hall). All are welcome!
The second event is the inaugural Kennedy-Wright Lecture in honour of two distinguished Edinburgh academics, H.A.A. Kennedy and David Wright. We’re delighted that the first of what we hope will become an annual lecture series will be given by Prof Timothy Barnes on the topic of ‘Progress in Scholarship: the Interpretation of Constantine Since the Reformation.’ Martin Hall, 4pm, Monday 8th October. Followed by a wine reception in the Rainy Hall.
